Mahindra is slowly revealing more details about its upcoming premium SUV, the Mahindra XUV 7XO, ahead of its official launch on January 5, 2026. The latest teaser focuses on technology and cabin upgrades, making it clear that the XUV 7XO is a major step forward compared to the outgoing Mahindra XUV 700.

Bookings for the XUV 7XO are already open across India. Interested buyers can reserve the SUV by paying a token amount of Rs. 21,000. At the time of booking, customers can also select their preferred engine option, transmission type and dealership. While Mahindra is expected to continue with the same engines as before, the biggest changes are seen in design, features and in-car technology.

A Clear Focus on Technology and Comfort

With the XUV 7XO, Mahindra is clearly targeting buyers who want a modern, tech-loaded SUV without moving to an electric vehicle just yet. Instead of making changes under the hood, the brand has focused on improving what owners experience every day – safety, comfort, infotainment and overall cabin quality.

The recent teasers show that the XUV 7XO is not just a minor update. It brings several features that are usually seen in more expensive or luxury vehicles, helping Mahindra stay competitive in the crowded midsize SUV segment.

540-Degree Camera: Better Visibility, Less Stress

One of the biggest highlights of the Mahindra XUV 7XO is the 540-degree camera system. This setup goes beyond the usual 360-degree camera by combining feeds from multiple cameras to show a wider view around and even underneath the vehicle.

This feature will be especially useful in:

  • Tight parking spaces
  • Busy city traffic
  • Narrow roads and lanes
  • Mild off-road or rough road conditions

The extra visibility can help reduce scratches, dents and underbody damage, making everyday driving easier and safer.

Advanced ADAS With Clear Visual Display

The XUV 7XO also gets an improved Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) with a new visual display. Instead of simple warning lights or sounds, the system now shows clear graphics on the screen.

Drivers will be able to see:

  • Vehicles around them
  • Lane markings
  • Active safety features working in real time

This makes ADAS features easier to understand and trust, especially during highway driving. It also helps drivers stay more aware of what the vehicle is doing at any moment.

In-Car Theatre Mode for Rear Passengers

Another interesting addition is the in-car theatre mode with BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) support. This feature is designed mainly for rear-seat passengers and long journeys.

Using Mahindra’s updated Adrenox+ software, passengers can connect their personal devices and enjoy entertainment on the move. The system manages infotainment, connectivity and vehicle settings, offering a smoother and more connected cabin experience.

This feature will be especially useful for families who often travel long distances.

Exterior Design Updates Inspired by EVs

The Mahindra XUV 7XO also receives noticeable design changes on the outside. The new lighting elements take inspiration from Mahindra’s newer electric vehicles, giving the SUV a more futuristic look.

Key exterior updates include:

  • New LED daytime running lights
  • Updated projector headlamps
  • Inverted L-shaped LED lights at the rear
  • Full-width rear light bar
  • Redesigned front and rear bumpers
  • New dual-tone alloy wheels
  • Fresh exterior colour options
  • New grille with vertical chrome accents
  • XUV 7XO badging on the bonnet and tailgate

These changes help clearly separate the XUV 7XO from the XUV 700, while still keeping the strong and bold road presence Mahindra SUVs are known for.

Interior Gets a Big Upgrade With Triple Screens

Inside the cabin, the XUV 7XO takes a big leap forward. For the first time on a Mahindra petrol or diesel SUV, it gets a triple-screen dashboard layout.

This setup includes:

  • A digital driver’s display
  • A large central touchscreen
  • A passenger-side display

The cabin also features:

  • A new triple-tone dashboard design
  • Brown and tan-finished steering wheel
  • Improved upholstery
  • Redesigned door trims
  • New air vents and centre console
  • Panoramic sunroof

The version shown in the teasers appears to be the top-spec AX7L variant, which is expected to offer premium features such as Boss Mode seating, electrically adjustable ORVMs and better overall material quality.

Engines and Gearboxes Remain the Same

Under the hood, Mahindra is expected to continue with its trusted engines:

  • 2.0-litre turbo petrol mStallion engine
  • 2.2-litre turbo diesel mHawk engine

Both engines are likely to be offered with:

  • 6-speed manual transmission
  • 6-speed automatic transmission

By keeping the mechanical setup unchanged, Mahindra ensures reliability while focusing on technology and comfort upgrades.

Expected Price and Segment Rivals

Official prices will be announced at launch, but the Mahindra XUV 7XO is expected to be priced slightly higher than the XUV 700 due to the added features and tech.

Expected price range (ex-showroom):
Rs. 14 lakh to Rs. 26 lakh (approx.)

The XUV 7XO will continue to compete with popular midsize SUVs such as:

  • Hyundai Creta
  • Kia Seltos
  • MG Hector
  • Toyota Hyryder
  • Upcoming Tata Sierra

Why the Mahindra XUV 7XO Is Important

The XUV 7XO shows Mahindra’s plan to keep its petrol and diesel SUVs fresh and relevant in the coming years. By adding modern design touches, advanced safety systems and a more premium cabin, Mahindra aims to attract buyers who want the latest features without switching to an electric vehicle just yet.

For many buyers, the Mahindra XUV 7XO could be one of the most feature-packed and future-ready ICE SUVs launching in India in 2026.
