Big Launch Ahead! 2 New Maruti Suzuki SUVs Set to Arrive in the Coming Months

Maruti Suzuki is set to launch two new SUVs in India in 2026, including its first electric SUV e Vitara and a facelifted Brezza with new features and ADAS.

SUVs Remain a Key Focus for India’s Largest Carmaker as Growth Push Continues

Maruti Suzuki is doubling down on SUVs to fuel its next phase of growth in India.
The country’s largest carmaker will soon launch two new SUVs, including its first electric vehicle, the e Vitara, and an updated Brezza aimed at mass-market buyers.

India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, is once again putting strong emphasis on SUVs as it looks to regain lost market share and drive growth in the coming months. With customer preference clearly shifting toward SUVs across price segments, the company has planned two important SUV launches this year — one premium and one more affordable.

Maruti Suzuki’s strategy is simple: offer a wider range of SUVs that cater to different buyers, from technology-focused electric vehicle customers to value-driven petrol and CNG buyers. This dual approach is expected to strengthen the brand’s position in a market where SUVs now account for a large share of overall car sales.

The upcoming launches will begin with a premium electric SUV, followed later by a facelifted compact SUV aimed at mass-market buyers.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Brand’s First Fully Electric SUV

The first major launch from Maruti Suzuki this year will be the e Vitara, which also marks a historic moment for the company. This will be Maruti Suzuki’s first pure electric car, something the brand has been working toward for several years.

Although the company initially planned to introduce its first EV around 2020, the project was delayed multiple times due to changing market conditions and evolving EV technology. Now, nearly six years later, Maruti Suzuki is finally ready to enter the electric vehicle space in a serious way.

Built on a Dedicated EV Platform

Unlike converted petrol models, the e Vitara has been developed from the ground up on a dedicated EV platform. This has allowed engineers to make better use of space and improve cabin comfort, even though the overall size of the SUV remains compact.

In terms of dimensions:

  • Length: 4,275 mm
  • Width: 1,800 mm
  • Height: 1,640 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,700 mm

Interestingly, the e Vitara is shorter than the Grand Vitara, yet it offers a longer wheelbase, which should translate into better rear-seat space and improved ride comfort.

Electric Powertrain and Battery Options

Maruti Suzuki will offer the e Vitara in two front-wheel-drive variants, both using a single electric motor setup.

Power and battery details:

  • Lower variant:
    • Power: 105.8 kW (around 142 hp)
    • Torque: 192.5 Nm
    • Battery: 49 kWh LFP battery
  • Higher variant:
    • Power: 128 kW (around 172 hp)
    • Torque: 192.5 Nm
    • Battery: 61 kWh LFP battery

According to Maruti Suzuki, the e Vitara can deliver a claimed driving range of up to 543 km on a single charge. While real-world range may be lower depending on driving conditions, this figure places it competitively among electric SUVs in India.

The use of LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries is also notable, as these are known for better durability, safety, and longer life cycles compared to some other battery types.

Features and Safety on the e Vitara

Maruti Suzuki is positioning the e Vitara as a premium electric SUV, and the feature list reflects this intention.

Key features expected:

  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster
  • 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Powered front seats with 10-way adjustment for the driver
  • Ventilated front seats
  • 40:20:40 split rear seats with sliding and reclining function

On the safety front, the e Vitara will come equipped with:

  • Seven airbags
  • A comprehensive suite of Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)

These features indicate that Maruti Suzuki wants to compete not just on price, but also on technology and safety — areas where the brand has faced criticism in the past.

Facelifted Brezza: A More Affordable SUV for Mass Buyers

After the launch of the e Vitara, Maruti Suzuki is expected to introduce a facelifted version of the Brezza in the second quarter of the year, possibly around May or June.

The Brezza has long been one of Maruti Suzuki’s most important SUVs, especially for buyers looking for a compact, reliable and fuel-efficient option. With growing competition in the segment, the facelift aims to keep the Brezza fresh and competitive.

Expected exterior updates:

  • Tweaked headlamps and tail lamps
  • Revised front and rear bumpers
  • New 16-inch alloy wheel design

Interior and feature upgrades:

  • Larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
  • 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Improved cabin materials and layout

The facelift is also expected to bring Level 2 ADAS features, which would be a significant upgrade for the segment and align the Brezza with newer safety expectations.

CNG Variant Improvements Expected

Maruti Suzuki is also likely to improve the CNG version of the Brezza, which remains popular among cost-conscious buyers.

One important update under consideration is an underbody-mounted CNG tank. This change would free up boot space, addressing one of the biggest drawbacks of CNG vehicles. If implemented, it could make the Brezza CNG a more practical option for daily use and family travel.

What This Means for Maruti Suzuki’s SUV Strategy

With these two launches, Maruti Suzuki is clearly strengthening its SUV portfolio at both ends of the market:

  • Premium electric SUV for tech-savvy and urban buyers
  • Affordable petrol and CNG SUV for mass-market customers

This approach allows the brand to appeal to a wide audience while adapting to changing regulations and buyer preferences. SUVs continue to dominate Indian car sales, and Maruti Suzuki appears determined not to lose further ground in this crucial segment.

The success of the e Vitara will also be closely watched, as it will set the tone for the company’s future electric vehicle plans.

Final Thoughts

Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming SUV launches reflect a renewed focus on innovation, safety, and market relevance. By combining a modern electric SUV with a refreshed mass-market bestseller, the company is preparing for a strong year ahead.

As competition intensifies, these two SUVs will play a major role in shaping Maruti Suzuki’s position in India’s fast-evolving automotive landscape.
