BMW Group India Achieves Highest-Ever Sales in 2025, EV Sales Jump 200%
BMW Group India achieved its best-ever sales in 2025, driven by a massive 200% surge in electric vehicle demand. SUVs and long wheelbase models led growth.
BMW Group India had its best year ever in India in 2025, driven by strong demand for electric cars, SUVs, and long wheelbase luxury models. The company sold a total of 18,001 cars, recording a 14% year-on-year growth and growing faster than the overall luxury car market in India.
The strong results show that Indian buyers are increasingly choosing BMW across different segments — from electric vehicles and premium sedans to SUVs and performance motorcycles.
Strong Sales Across the Year
BMW Group India maintained steady growth throughout 2025. The final quarter was the strongest, with 6,023 cars sold between October and December, a 17% increase compared to the same period last year.
Every quarter of 2025 turned out to be the company’s best so far, thanks to consistent month-on-month growth. This helped BMW Group India continue its double-digit growth run for the fourth year in a row.
Electric Cars Drive Big Growth
Electric vehicles played a key role in BMW’s success last year. The brand remained India’s top-selling luxury EV manufacturer, a position it has held since 2022.
In 2025, BMW Group India sold 3,753 electric cars, marking a massive 200% growth over the previous year. EVs made up 21% of total car sales, up sharply from 8% in 2024. This shows that more Indian luxury buyers are now comfortable choosing electric cars.
Long Wheelbase Cars Become Very Popular
Another major highlight of 2025 was the strong demand for BMW’s long wheelbase cars. Sales of these models jumped by 162%, reaching 8,608 units.
Long wheelbase models accounted for half of BMW’s total car sales in India. Cars like the BMW 3 Series Long Wheelbase remain popular due to their spacious rear seats, making them ideal for buyers who prefer to be chauffeured.
SUVs Continue to Lead BMW Sales
SUVs continued to be the backbone of BMW’s sales in India. The company sold 10,748 SUVs in 2025, a 22% year-on-year increase, contributing nearly 60% of total car sales.
The BMW X1 emerged as the best-selling BMW car in India, followed by the BMW X5. The strong performance highlights the growing preference for premium SUVs among Indian buyers.
