India’s electric two-wheeler (E2W) market started 2026 on a strong note. In January 2026, the segment recorded healthy year-on-year growth, showing that EV adoption in the two-wheeler space continues to gain momentum.

Who Ruled Jan 2026? Top 10 Best-Selling Two-Wheeler Brands in India

TVS Motor Takes the Top Spot

TVS Motor Company emerged as the largest electric two-wheeler seller in India in January 2026.

  • Sales: 34,440 units
  • Year-on-Year Growth: +43.3%
  • Month-on-Month Growth: +36.6%

The Hosur-based manufacturer clearly benefited from the continued popularity of its electric lineup, especially the TVS iQube range. TVS has also strengthened its position by expanding its dealership network, improving financing options, and focusing on after-sales support — all key factors for EV buyers.

Thanks to a good balance of pricing, features, and reliability, TVS managed to stay ahead in a market that is becoming more competitive every month.

Bajaj Auto Strengthens Second Position

Bajaj Auto finished January 2026 in second place, continuing its steady rise in the EV space.

  • Sales: 25,520 units
  • YoY Growth: +18.9%
  • MoM Growth: +34.7%

The success of Bajaj’s EV strategy is largely driven by the Bajaj Chetak. Over time, Bajaj has expanded the Chetak range and recently introduced a more affordable variant, making the brand more accessible to price-sensitive buyers.

With strong brand trust and improving availability, Bajaj is slowly closing the gap with TVS.

Ather Energy Posts Impressive Growth

Among established EV startups, Ather Energy delivered one of the most impressive performances.

  • Sales: 21,923 units
  • YoY Growth: +67.4%
  • MoM Growth: +27.5%

Ather’s growth was driven by strong demand for the 450 series and the family-friendly Ather Rizta. The brand has managed to attract both tech-savvy urban buyers and practical family users.

Ather’s focus on performance, build quality, and charging infrastructure continues to pay off in a crowded EV market.\

Hero MotoCorp’s Vida Shows Strong Momentum

Hero MotoCorp’s electric arm, Vida, recorded a major jump in sales.

  • Sales: 13,274 units
  • YoY Growth: +716%
  • MoM Growth: +23.4%

While the year-on-year growth looks massive, it is important to note that Vida had a low base last year. Still, the brand’s consistent improvement month after month shows growing acceptance of Hero’s electric offerings.

Hero’s strong dealership reach and brand trust are helping Vida gain traction across more cities.

Ola Electric Faces a Tough Month

In contrast to others, Ola Electric had a challenging January 2026.

  • Sales: 7,512 units
  • YoY Change: -69.2%
  • MoM Change: -16.8%

Ola’s sharp decline suggests increasing pressure from both legacy manufacturers and newer EV players. While Ola was once the clear leader in the electric scooter market, competition, customer expectations, and operational challenges appear to have affected its recent performance.

Ampere, River and Other Brands Show Mixed Results

  • Ampere sold 5,336 units, posting a solid 46.7% YoY growth.
  • River Mobility recorded 2,574 units, registering a massive 321.3% YoY growth, though volumes remain relatively low.
  • BGauss Auto sold 2,475 units, growing 70.6% YoY.
  • E-Sprinto Green posted 2,033 units, showing strong momentum from a small base.
  • PUR Energy sold 685 units, facing a 58.5% YoY decline.
