Tata Motors sold 41,001 cars in August 2025, compared to 44,142 units in August 2024, marking a 7% year-on-year (YoY) decline. However, on a month-on-month (MoM) basis, sales improved by 4%, up from 39,521 units in July 2025. While yearly sales dipped, Tata is showing signs of recovery ahead of the festive season.
Tata Nexon Leads the Sales Chart
The Tata Nexon remained the brand’s best-selling model, posting 14,004 units in August 2025. This reflects a 14% YoY growth and a 9% MoM rise.
Nexon’s consistent sales performance highlights its dominance in the compact SUV segment, making it one of the top-selling SUVs in India.
Tata Punch Faces Decline
The Tata Punch registered 10,704 units in August 2025, down 32% YoY compared to 15,643 units in August 2024. On a MoM basis, sales fell by just 1%.
The decline suggests rising competition in the entry-level SUV segment, where new launches are eating into Punch’s market share.

Hatchbacks: Tiago & Altroz Post Mixed Results
- Tata Tiago: Sold 5,250 units, an 11% YoY growth, but down 6% MoM.
- Tata Altroz: Delivered 3,959 units, recording a 31% YoY jump and a 1% MoM increase.
While the Tiago remained stable, the Tata Altroz stood out as a fast-growing premium hatchback in India.
Tigor & Curvv Continue to Struggle
- Tata Tigor: Dropped 30% YoY to 805 units, with a 17% MoM fall.
- Tata Curvv: Slipped 51% YoY to just 1,703 units, also down 15% MoM.
Both models are facing challenges in their segments, highlighting the need for strategic updates.
Harrier & Safari Deliver Strong SUV Numbers
- Tata Harrier: Recorded 3,087 units, up 63% YoY and 39% MoM — the highest growth among Tata cars.
- Tata Safari: Managed 1,489 units, down 24% YoY, but improved by 20% MoM.
This shows that Tata’s larger SUVs are gaining strong traction, with the Harrier emerging as a star performer.

Despite a 7% YoY drop, Tata Motors showed 4% MoM growth in August 2025. With GST 2.0 benefits, festive season demand, and upcoming new car launches, the brand is expected to bounce back strongly in the coming months.
