Mahindra’s SUV Momentum Continues With 63,500+ Units Sold In January 2026

Mahindra reports strong January 2026 sales with 63,510 SUVs sold, marking 25% growth. Total vehicle sales stand at 1,04,309 units, driven by SUVs, CVs and three-wheelers.

Mahindra & Mahindra had a very strong start to 2026, reporting impressive sales growth across SUVs, commercial vehicles, three-wheelers and exports in January. The company’s latest numbers clearly show that customer demand for Mahindra vehicles remains high, especially in the SUV segment, which continues to be its biggest strength.

SUVs Lead Mahindra’s Growth Story

Mahindra’s SUV range once again played a key role in boosting overall sales. In the domestic market, the company sold 63,510 SUVs in January 2026, compared to 50,659 units in January last year. This means Mahindra achieved a year-on-year growth of 25 per cent, which is a strong performance considering the intense competition in the SUV space.

SUVs have become the most popular vehicle type in India, and Mahindra has built a solid reputation in this segment. Its focus on bold design, strong engines, modern features and safety has helped the brand attract buyers from both cities and smaller towns. The steady demand also shows that Mahindra has been able to manage production and deliveries more efficiently.

On a year-to-date basis till January 2026, Mahindra’s passenger vehicle sales touched 5,39,986 units. This is a 19 per cent increase compared to 4,53,019 units sold during the same period last year. These figures highlight consistent growth rather than a one-time spike.

Overall Sales Remain Strong

When exports are included, Mahindra reported total vehicle sales of 1,04,309 units in January 2026. This marks a 24 per cent growth over January 2025. These sales numbers cover all major business areas such as passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three-wheelers and overseas shipments.

The strong overall performance shows that Mahindra is not dependent on just one segment. While SUVs remain the biggest contributor, other categories are also supporting growth, making the company’s business more balanced and stable.

Commercial Vehicles Continue to Perform Well

Mahindra’s commercial vehicle (CV) business also delivered healthy results in January. The company sold 27,656 commercial vehicles in the domestic market, recording a 22 per cent year-on-year growth.

Looking closer at the numbers:

  • Light commercial vehicles below 2 tonnes accounted for 4,009 units, showing a 13 per cent increase.
  • The 2 to 3.5 tonne segment performed even better, with 23,647 units sold, growing by 23 per cent.

These figures include popular models such as the Bolero Maxx PUP range, which is widely used by small business owners, transporters and delivery operators. Growth in e-commerce, construction activity and rural transport has helped boost demand for such vehicles.

Strong Growth in Three-Wheelers

Mahindra also saw strong momentum in its three-wheeler business, including electric three-wheelers sold under Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited. In January 2026, three-wheeler sales stood at 9,566 units, which is a 28 per cent increase compared to the same month last year.

On a cumulative basis, three-wheeler sales for the year so far reached 92,012 units, also reflecting a 28 per cent growth. The rising popularity of electric three-wheelers for last-mile transport, especially in cities, has played an important role in this growth.

Mahindra has been investing steadily in electric mobility solutions, and its growing presence in the last-mile EV segment is now translating into strong sales numbers.

Exports Add Extra Support

Exports also made a positive contribution to Mahindra’s January performance. The company shipped 3,577 vehicles to overseas markets in January 2026, compared to 3,404 units in January last year. This resulted in a 5 per cent growth.

For the year-to-date period, Mahindra’s export volumes rose to 33,638 units, up from 27,452 units last year. This represents a solid 23 per cent increase, showing that Mahindra’s vehicles continue to find demand in global markets despite challenging international conditions.

Massive Booking Response for New Models

January was also an important month for Mahindra in terms of customer interest. On 14 January, the company opened bookings for the XUV 7XO and the XEV 9S.

The response was exceptional. Within just four hours, Mahindra received 93,689 bookings for these two models. The total booking value stood at Rs. 20,500 crore, clearly showing the strong trust customers have in Mahindra’s upcoming SUVs and electric vehicles.

Such a strong booking response gives the company good visibility for future sales and highlights the growing demand for both ICE and electric SUVs.
